Korean American Women Affiliation of Utah Fundraiser - 2026
Community is incredibly important to us at Mashi, and when the Korean American Women's Affiliation of Utah (KAWA) reached out about their July fundraiser, saying yes was easy. KAWA hosted a fundraiser lunch this month to support a local women's shelter. There were dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, a raffle, and a whole lot of good food and good people.
We helped sponsored the event in two ways:
First, we donated six jars of our kimchi paste as raffle prizes, along with several other raffle prizes throughout the event. The raffle also featured prizes from some great local businesses including Paik's Noodles, Stun Cube, JJ's Burger, Ito Sushi, Katsu City, Juju's Kimchi, Seoul Market, El Pollo Loco, and JJ's Coffee Co. There was lots of great stuff up for grabs.
Second, we contributed to the fundraiser lunch itself with a batch of our kimchi-marinated short ribs. They were made with our kimchi paste, and the trays came back empty, so we'll call that a big win.
If you want to try making those same ribs at home, the recipe is right here: Kimchi Marinated Short Rib
The fundraiser was amazing and there were dance performances and martial arts demonstrations that were a joy to watch while everyone ate the delicious lunch. The whole afternoon had a warm, celebratory feel. All the proceeds from the event were given to a shelter for women right here in the local community. We love supporting this kind of work. They don’t always get a spotlight but they definitely deserve one.
We're grateful to KAWA for having us, for the work they do, and the organizations they support, and we're grateful to everyone who came out and made it a beautiful afternoon.
Here's to more of this!
